The GEO Photo Contest 2023-24 cycle is now closed. Voting for finalists begins September 26.
Join us for the finalist reveal and voting kick-off on the forth floor of Newman Library on Thursday, September 24 at 5 PM. Light refreshments will be served.
Winners for the 2023-24 cycle will be announced during International Education Week in November 2024.
Features something Virginia Tech branded or showcases Hokie traditions like the VT sign made with fingers.
Photos of beautiful places you visited during your travels with landmarks or landscapes that are easily recognizable as international locations.
These photos capture the core of your study abroad experience and how it has influenced you.
These photos highlight a moment where you connected with and appreciated a different culture, enriching your worldview.
Living Texbook Faculty and staff, share your photos depicting the experiential learning moments your students encountered during your program.
- There will be one winner for each category.
- Current student winners will receive a $100 prize applied to their student accounts.
- Faculty, staff, and alumni winners will receive a non-monetary prize.
2023-2024 Global Education Social Media Drawing
Students can also enter our social media contest for a chance to win a random $100 drawing.
The 2023-24 winners will be announced via social media by early October 2024.
- Create an Instagram post or reel about your experience.
- Tag @vtabroad. You will also need to take a screenshot of your post and send it to us with the subject “geopic20232024 entry.")
- Include the name of the study abroad program and tell us what is happening in your photo.
- You must be following @VTabroad on Instagram.
Note: Every post you make following these rules counts as an entry. There is no limit to the number of entries.
By entering the contest, you certify that you own the rights to the submitted photos, grant permission to Virginia Tech to use them for publicity, marketing, and communications, and confirm that they do not violate copywriting.
Hokie guideline for submission:
Entrants must have taken the photo themselves. Online images or images from other persons/sources are not eligible.
Check your grammar and spelling.
Avoid offensive language, slurs, or taunting.
Do not include references to or photos of alcohol being consumed, drug use, or illegal activities.
No self-promotion, promotions for friends, or business advertisements.
Obtain consent before publishing photos or videos of others.
