Betty is responsible for providing administrative and programmatic support for a variety of international projects, including the graduate certificate in International Multidisciplinary Research and Development, the Phi Beta Delta international honor society, Fulbright programs, and university-wide groups such as the University Council on International Affairs and the International Education Policy Committee.

Additionally she serves as the emergency building coordinator for the International Affairs Offices and works to promote health and safety among colleagues and across the campus.

Betty served in the U.S. Army as a Russian linguist, lived in Italy for four years, has a bachelor’s degree in Latin American studies from American University in Washington, D.C., and is working on a masters’ degree in public and international affairs.  She is a soccer enthusiast and on weekends can be found working as a projectionist at Blacksburg’s historic Lyric Theatre.
