Linda Tanko, a native of Baltimore, MD, lived in Iowa and Pennsylvania before coming to Blacksburg. Her educational background is varied, having attended St. Mary’s College of Maryland (ocean sciences), Iowa State University (general science – as there really is no ocean in Iowa), and finally Des Moines Area Community College – Boone for Computers and Accounting.
Some of her job experiences include working at the Gerontology Research Center in the labs, in resort and campus hotels, as job seeker for the Pennsylvania Association for Retarded Citizens, and the New River Community Action’s SHARE bookkeeper.
With her husband, Jim, they enjoy camping, kayaking, hiking, and well – the outdoors. They have one daughter, Jennifer. Linda’s favorite place to unwind since childhood is Shenandoah National Park, which influenced her to land in Virginia.
