CAUS: SOVA-VCD Summer European Immersion

This program is designed to explore Art and Design through the lens of Europe, and more specifically, Italy and Switzerland. The program includes a Master Letterpress Workshop with legendary designer Primo Angeli
SOVA-VCD (learning)
In addition to the Master workshop, students will spend time in Venice, Rome, Florence, Basel, and Zurich visiting museums and modern architecture. On these trips, students will explore historic typography, view ancient and modern art, and gain hands-on experience in applying visual techniques.

The program is open to all university students – However, candidates will be considered in order of the following preference: Visual Communication Design and Art majors (Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores), Creative Technologies MFA students, CAUS students, and all other VT students. Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.

Participants will earn 3 ART credits (Eligible as either a VCD or Studio Art elective).


Program Fee

Estimated program fee is $4000. The fee does not include VT tuition, airfare, and personal expenses. (Exact costs are subject to change depending on fluctuations in the currency exchange rates and the final number of participants)

University Tuition & Fees

Tuition and university fees are billed separately from the program fee according to University Bursar policy. See here for credit hour rates for the appropriate term:

Students will stay in a combination of hostels, hotels, and the Steger Center (VT).
